The Miami Heat play all of their home games in the National Basketball Association at American Airlines Arena. American Airlines Arena is one of the few stadiums in the NBA where the fans actually have some kind of impact on the games. The best example of this came during the 2004 NBA Playoffs. The Heat won six of seven games on their home court but couldn’t win a single game on the road. It’s not so much a bad thing for the team because they had a young core of players and winning playoff road games comes with experience but a good thing for American Airlines Stadium and the fans of Miami. That example shows the fans that they do have a hand in the outcome of every single Miami Heat game and it helps them become even more fanatical about their Miami Heat.
American Airlines Arena doesn’t just play host to all of the Miami Heat games they also have different events like concerts, ice events and awards shows. In 2004 the American Airlines Arena will be the backdrop for the 2004 MTV Video Music Awards. It will mark the first time in VMA history that the celebrities will arrive on boats and yachts to the red carpet instead of the normal limousine.
