The Boston Celtics play all 42 of their National Basketball Association regular season games at the TD Garden. The stadium has hosted a number of big games and big events. The Celtics played the first playoff games on the court during the opening season when they went into the first round and lost. However, the Celtics do proudly boast 16 championship banners that used to hang in the hallowed rafters of Boston Garden, the stadium that the Celtics played in until the TD Garden was built in 1995. Many fans didn’t like the idea that the Garden wouldn’t be the home of the Celtics anymore and that the team wouldn’t win another championship in another stadium other than the Garden. Due to this uproar, team officials put parts of the floor from Boston Garden on the TD Garden floor.
The TD Garden is also the home ice of the National Hockey League’s Boston Bruins. The team also plays 42 regular season games within the friendly confines of the TD Garden. Other events that have been held in the TD Garden are the NCAA Men’s Hockey Championship the “Frozen Four,” the 1996 NHL All-Star game, the 1996 and 2000 US Gymnastic Trials, and the 2004 Democratic National Convention.
